2011 DDP Exhibitor: U.S. Medical Instruments, Inc.

Will you be attending Drug Delivery Partnerships this week? One of the highlights of the event is the exhibit hall, and this year, we're proud to have U.S. Medical Instruments join us. While at the event, drop by booth 113 to find out more!

U.S. Medical Instruments, Inc. (“USMI”) designs, develops, manufactures and markets proprietary, safety-enhanced, disposable medical products intended to protect healthcare workers from the spread of infectious diseases such as Hepatitis C and AIDS. The Company's first product line, the SafeSnap® ("SafeSnap") syringe, consists of a full line of single-use hypodermic syringes designed to reduce the risk of transmission of bloodborne diseases from accidental needlesticks in the healthcare and home care markets. A SafeSnap syringe is similar in appearance, size and manner of use to a standard “non-safety” syringe. The Total Control Solution to Needle Safety…the SafeSnap Retractable Needle Security Syringe incorporates patented retraction and encapsulation technology that permits the user to “selectively control” the isolation of the needle within the barrel of the syringe immediately after use, thereby facilitating safe disposal. In essence the SafeSnap syringe becomes its own sharps container.

The SafeSnap syringe via a universal luer-lock interface works with most standard syringe accessories. The SafeSnap full product line consists of five syringes, which vary by size, needle length and gauge. The 1/2cc, 1cc, 3cc, 5cc and 10cc SafeSnap syringe sizes are currently available for sale. These five sizes account for approximately 90 percent of this market. The SafeSnap syringe is also latex-free and will not cause adverse reactions in the estimated 8-10% of patients and healthcare workers with allergies to latex. Unlike similar devices currently being introduced into the market, the SafeSnap syringe allows the needle to be changed-out and the syringe meets both the FDA and International Standards Organization (“ISO”) standard for dead space (fluid trapped in the syringe after use) thereby keeping waste of expensive medications to a minimum.

Introducing USMI’s SafeSnap® ReadyToFillTM Safety Syringe

US Medical Instruments, Inc.’s SafeSnap® ReadyToFill™ syringe is the only ready-to-fill on the market that becomes its own self-contained sharps container. And, with USMI’s mail back program, it is as easy as 1-2-3 for the self-administered user to dispose of used syringes:

1. User receives SafeSnap® ReadyToFill™ syringe in the mail back box
2. Puts used syringes in mail back box (syringes become own sharps container)
3. Drops the postage paid mail back box in any US Postal mailbox (CA law compliant)

In addition, the SafeSnap® ReadyToFill™ syringe maximizes the yield of your drugs while also reducing your costs. SafeSnap® ReadyToFill™ meets the ISO (International Standards Organization) Standard for zero dead space and designed for zero reflux. This syringe is convenient and easy to use for both self-administered end users and health care professionals. With dosage error and needlestick injuries eliminated and reduced contamination, health care professionals will experience less risk and more peace of mind.
